Christmas Pudding Races at Hull Kingston Rowing Club

Before the club broke up for Christmas, Club Chairman Gav and Club Secretary Charlotte hit upon the idea of having a fun mini-regatta to finish off what had been a huge year for the club.Plum Pudding 13

A plot was hatched and word went out to the membership to turn up for fun racing with the instructions that Christmas attire was mandatory! Meanwhile Gav went out to the supermarket and came back with far too many Christmas Puddings!

Plum Pudding 4So the club members turned up festooned with Christmas hats (and in the case of Treasurer Rob – a pirate outfit!). Names were drawn out of a hat and crews took to the water for doubles racing in our Explore Rowing doubles.

The weather wasn’t the best, but everyone took to the racing in good spirits with some close races, some very interesting steering and some very dodgy starts from the Club Chairman!

On top of the doubles racing, we also let the parents loose in the Explore Rowing singles for a spot of sprint racing. An interesting (and for some of the parents very wet!) experience and certainly gave the parents a taste of what the juniors do each weekend!

A brilliant mornings fun racing and a huge thank you to all the club members who have helped the club develop over the summer to enable the club to move forward and grow!
